My current favorites including clean beauty products, my new favorite mascara, and a book I couldn’t put down.
Hi, everyone. August is almost over so I thought I would share everything I was loving this month. I have been trying these products for a while so I could get a good idea if I liked them or not. Turns out I’m obsessed with them. Here are my current favorites for the month of August.
Current Favorites – August 2022
1. Honest Beauty Hydrogel Cream
I have been trying this cream for over a month now and it is the absolute best. I used the Clinique dramatically different lotion for years because I thought it worked for my dry skin. Nope, I was wrong. The Honest Beauty Hydrogel Cream works like a dream. It has two hyaluronic acids in it, making it super hydrating. When you first apply it, it feels like water but settles thick like a moisturizer.
The best part about this cream is the ingredients. They are non-toxic, clean, and made without harmful parabens. It also received a 100/100 (Excellent score) on the Yuka App! An app that tells you how good or bad beauty and food products are for your health. Even my boyfriend noticed a difference in my skin. I highly recommend you try this if you have dry skin!
2. Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion
If you’re looking for a clean, hydrating, and with little to no fragrance body lotion, then this is for you. I usually don’t like scented lotions, especially in the morning, so I wanted one with little to no scent. I also wanted one with clean ingredients. After some research, I end up buying this one and it is almost perfect. I love that it’s thick and hydrating, has barely any fragrance, and has non-toxic ingredients. I would say I stay hydrated for about 8 hours, which is a long time! I’m just too lazy to reapply lotion in the morning, to be honest. It’s still a favorite, but I think I want to try their illuminating oil to see if that helps with staying hydrated longer! I’ll keep you updated on my Instagram stories.
3. Maybelline Green Edition Mega Mousse Mascara
I recently found out that waterproof mascara has a very harmful ingredient in it, so I wanted to try something with better ingredients. When I saw that Maybelline had a clean beauty line (with actual clean ingredients!) I knew I had to try it. This mascara is vegan, made with 99% natural ingredients, and works so well! It has a curved bristle wand, lightweight formula, and gives you a natural-looking lash.
I’m shocked this mascara stays on all day. I can only wear waterproof mascara because it always smudges under my eyes but this one passed the test! Although I wouldn’t nap in it, because it did come off a little lol.
4. Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil
This is still new to me and I haven’t seen any growth yet, but I had to tell you all about it. This makes my hair look and feel so soft. On hair washing days (twice a week), I section my hair into four parts. Then, I apply a small amount of oil to my scalp and massage it with my fingers. Once I’m done, I clip my hair and leave it on for at least 2 hours. I then shampoo and condition it as normal.
Everyone on TikTok raves about it and how much their hair has grown. I personally use it as a scalp treatment because it’s so dry, but I hope it works to grow out my hair! It helps improve the length of hair, invigorates and nourishes hair follicles, conditions dry scalp, smooths split ends, and is infused with biotin to encourage growth. I’ll keep you all updated on if my hair grows on my Instagram stories! Bonus: it smells amazing!
5. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
TikTok was not lying when they said this book is amazing. I knew I had to pace myself when I first started reading this because I didn’t want it to end!
“Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?
Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.
Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.”
It had me in my feelings throughout the whole book. It honestly felt like reading a real autobiography. Romance, drama, and tragedy. This is definitely a new favorite read of mine. 4.5/5 stars for me!
